G Blog

G Blog is simple, clean and elegant WordPress theme for your blog site. This theme comes with a slider, promo section, copyright options and social options. In addition, this theme has added custom widgets for recent post, author and social menus.

Installation

You can install theme either with Admin Panel or using FTP clients like FileZilla.

Using Admin dashboard

  1. Log in to the WordPress Administration Panels.
  2. Go to Appearance -> Themes.
  3. Select Add New.
  4. Then select Upload Theme.
  5. Click Browse and locate g-blog.zip Theme in your computer.
  6. Select g-blog.zip and click Install Now.

Using FTP

  1. Unzip g-blog.zip to your Desktop.
  2. Using an FTP client to access your host web server, go to /wp-content/themes/ and upload your new copy of G Blog Theme.
  3. Now, log into the WordPress Dashboard with your login details.
  4. Select the Appearance panel, then Themes.
  5. You will see the theme in the list.
  6. Then click Activate button.
  7. The theme is now activated.

Activation

After successfully installing the G Blog theme, you need to activate your theme. Follow given steps to activate the theme.

  1. Select the Appearance panel, then Themes.
  2. You will see the G Blog theme in the list.
  3. Click Activate button.
  4. After clicking in activate button the theme will be active.

Demo content

  1. Click here to download free version dummy data. Pro version dummy data is included in the theme folder.
  2. Extract that zip folder.
  3. Go to Tools > Import > WordPress(Install it ) > And select the XML file and import it.
  4. After the successful completion of upload, go to Appearance > Customize to make the theme settings.

Adding Posts

To create the posts on your site, Follow the below-listed methods.

  1. Go to Administration Panels
  2. Go to Posts and Click on Add New
  3. Enter the title of the post and add the content
  4. Set the featured image for the post from the right corner.
  5. Set Category of the post.
  6. Click on Publish Button.
  7. Add more post like the above methods.

Categories

To create the categories on your site, Follow the below-listed methods.

  1. Go to Administration Panels
  2. Go to Posts > Categories
  3. Give the title of the category
  4. Click on Save
  5. The added category will appear on the Add Post Page.

Adding Pages

To create the pages on your site, Follow the below-listed methods.

  1. Go to Administration Panels
  2. Go to Page and Click on Add New
  3. Give the page a title and add the content
  4. Set the featured image for the page from the right corner.
  5. Click on Publish Button.
  6. Add more page of the above methods.

Theme Options

There are plenty of theme options available to customize according to your needs.

Breadcrumb

Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme options > Breadcrumb. Enable / disable breadcrumb

Banner slider

Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme options > Banner slider. Select banner from posts or pages.

Promo section

Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme options > Promo section. Select post category for promo section.

Sidebar layout

Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme options > Sidebar layout. Select sidebar layout for your site.

Footer copyright

Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme options > Footer copyright. Enter copyright text of your site.

Widgets

Newie comes with Added Custom Widget for Recent posts, Popular posts, Author, and Social links.

GTL Author

This widget contains title, image, description and social links.

GTL Recent posts

This widget is used to show the recent post or most commented posts with featured image

GTL Popular posts

This widget is used to show the most popular/visited posts with featured image

GTL Social widget

This widget is used to show social media links on header or on other widget areas

  1. Social Menu will appear on top right of the header. You can use GTL Social widget to display on the sidebar or on other widget area.
  2. Add the link to social Menu(Use Custom Link to create this menu)
  3. In custom link, add link for the Facebook Menu(www.facebook.com/username)
  4. Add the menu and follow the same steps for twitter, Instagram etc.
  5. Select the Social Menu for this.

Site Title, Tagline & Logo

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity
  2. Click on Select Logo
  3. Select the logo.
  4. After logo selected, your site title and tagline will hide on the front end.
  5. If the preview is fine, click on Save & Publish to save the changes.

Background Image

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Background Image
  2. Select the best image for the site background.
  3. Select the required setting for background.
  4. Publish to save the changes.

Menus

This theme comes with three menu locations. Primary Menu Secondary Menu and Social Menu

Primary Menu

  1. This menu will appear as the main navigation for the site.
  2. Create a menu and add the items on the menu.
  3. Set the menu on the Primary Menu.
  4. Save the Menu

Social Menu

  1. Social Menu will appear on top right Side of the main navigation
  2. Add the link for the social menu (Use Custom Link to create this menu)
  3. In custom link, add link for Facebook Menu(www.facebook.com/username)
  4. Add the menu and follow the same steps for twitter, Instagram etc.
  5. Select the Social Menu for this.
  6. Publish to save the changes.

Fonts

Set font family and font size of each element of your site.

 

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme options > Font setting
  2. Enter google font url and font family.
  3. Enter font size for each element.
  4. Publish to save the changes.

Colors

Set color of each element of your site.

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme options > Color setting
  2. Select the required color for each elements.
  3. Publish to save the changes.

Button

Design button to display on your site

 

  1. Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme options > Button setting
  2. Set button parameters.
  3. Publish to save the changes.

 

What to do If you get an error while uploading your theme.

If you have a cpanel server you can install the theme easily using the Cpanel File Manager.   If you have the Pro version and need help with the install, simply submit a trouble ticket  (link to form) and we will be happy to do the install for you.

The steps are:

  1. Select “File Manager” in cpanel

    1. Navigate to the public_html > wp-content > themes folder
    2. Click the Upload Button and select the GTL Multipurpose them
    3. Go back to the File Manager by clicking the link at the bottom of the upload window

    1. Select the theme and click the “Extract” link.  (Make sure you extract it to the “Themes” Folder
    2. That’s all.  You are done.  When you go back to “Appearance > Themes” in cpanel you will see your theme. Mouseover the theme and click “Activate” and the theme will become active
